Peanut Butter Vanilla Oreo Vegan Milkshakes

Everybody loves a milkshake, but I suppose not everyone is as fond of the thought of using a non-dairy substitute to make their vegan milkshake. Don't worry, I was the same. The idea of using a watery, tasteless looking liquid after years of milk consumption seemed daunting but this really is just a fear of change. Read on to find out why.
Though I am not a vegan at heart or by practice, I enjoy testing new culinary depths which is my reason for going vegan this month for world vegan month. The plant-based world has a lot to offer and it's easy to get lost in the idea that you won't be able to mimic a traditional recipe with a plant-based one, however this isn't always the case. In this recipe, I combined almond milk, vegan friendly peanut butter and ice cream with Oreo's and I can tell you hands-down that it tasted just like any other milkshake I'd ever had before, it contained the same creamy consistency you'd gain from using traditional dairy products and the flavour was still just as delicious, if not more.
Making the coconut whipped cream was an interesting experience, originally when I thought of the idea of vegan whipped cream to top this indulgent delight I was a little lost on how I would create it. The thought of relentlessly whisking soya milk in desperation to gain a creamy decorative top seemed hopeless, but after a bit of research I saw that using coconut cream was a tried and tested way and gave it a go. As expected, it worked perfectly and I shall certainly be having my shakes the vegan way moving forwards!
